It’s think outside the box mentality and situational themes make every game different. The game provides the opportunity to learn more about the real-life challenges co-ops face and the tough choices that have to be made in a fun, inspiring way. The game is designed to pit individual and collective interests off each other, making each team work together to overcome major hurdles. Either everyone wins or everybody loses.
The game celebrates the International Year of the Co-operative, hoping to help the co-operative movement gain further traction across the globe. As of 2011, there are currently 800 million co-op members and 100 million employees worldwide.
A worker-owned cooperative based in Massachusetts called The Toolbox for Education and Social Action (TESA) made and produced Co-opoly. A fun fact about the game: Every part was created in the U.S. with recycled materials and by predominantly worker cooperatives all within 70 miles of TESA’s location!
