2012 Eat Local Farm Tour: The Tour Guidebooks are in!

For those who missed the 2011 Eat Local Farm Tour and for those who can’t wait for the next one, we have good news!! The 2012 Eat Local Farm Tour, sponsored by the Twin Cities food co-ops, including Valley Natural Foods, is scheduled for July 21, 2012. A free, detailed guidebook complete with maps, hours, and tour activities is available at all participating co-op locations or online.
The goal of the tour is to encourage the general public to visit local farms and meet directly with producers to learn more about our local food system and its importance. The farms on this year’s tour are: Big River Farm/Minnesota Food Association in St. Croix, MN, the Women’s Environmental Institute in North Branch, MN, Thousand Hills Cattle Company in Cannon Falls, MN, Shepherd’s Way Farms in Nerstrand, MN, Cedar Summit Dairy and Farm in New Prague, MN, L&R Poultry and Produce in Kenyon, MN, Simple Harvest Farm Organics in Nerstrand, MN, Kohnert Organic Farms in Montgomery, MN, Living Land Farm in St. Peter, MN and East Henderson Farm in Henderson, MN.
All tours are free and self-guided; there will be no public transportation or buses. The hours of operation will differ from farm to farm.
