FAQ’s about GT’s “Enlightened” Kombucha Products

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

You may be happy to hear that the ever popular GT’s Kombucha is back on the shelves once again! Currently, it’s being shipped with the original label, but soon, will have “Enlightened” across the label as well.

GT’s has supplied the following FAQ’s about their new formula:

WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT THIS PRODUCT VERSUS THE ORIGINAL VERSION?
GT’s Enlightened Synergy Kombucha products are a new interpretation of our original formula. They
have a lighter and smoother taste with the same high nutritional value that you expect from us. In
addition they have a significantly shorter shelf life.

IS THE “ENLIGHTENED” STILL RAW?
Yes, like always we bottle everything straight from the batch without any pasteurization, filtration, or
dilution. Because of this, the product will need to be kept refrigerated at all times.

WHAT ABOUT THE CONCERNS OF SLIGHTLY ELEVATED LEVELS OF ALCOHOL?
We addressed these concerns by modifying the probiotic ratio of the Kombucha. Without
compromising the product’s potency, we were able to reduce the opportunity for alcohol to increase
during the product’s shelf life.

WHAT FLAVORS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THE “ENLIGHTENED”?
At this point we are launching the “Enlightened” with 11 of our 17 flavors. They are Original,
Gingerade, Multi-Green, Cranberry, Trilogy, Gingerberry, Guava, Mango, Botanic No 3, Botanic No 7,
and Botanic No 9.

WILL YOU NO LONGER PRODUCE THE ORIGINAL FORMULA?
We plan to re-launch our original formula in the near future. Due to recent concerns, it may have to be
sold as an “over 21” product.

Where did all the Kombucha Go?

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

For those of you who are wondering why Valley Natural Foods ran out of fermented kombucha, we decided to stop ordering it until we better understand some concerns with slightly elevated alcohol levels. We will keep you posted with any updates when we learn more.

If you like kombucha, you might want to consider an interesting, liquid probiotic alternative which is produced locally:  CocoKefir.  Though not an exact substitute, you can be confident that CocoKefir is a nourishing probiotic alternative to kombucha as it provides an average of 45 billion cfu’s of live probiotics in a dairy-free, gluten-free, low-sugar drink. However, since CocoKefir does not contain vigorously-fermenting yeasts, it does not contain significant levels of alcohol.

Just a 1/2 cup serving of CocoKefir will supply you with the same benefits (if not more) than a whole bottle of kombucha. Each bottle of CocoKefir contains 4 delicious servings.
